We’re excited to have been appointed by The DressChange. We will be working across owned, earned and social media to raise the profile of the brand and that of its founder Montana Marshall. The DressChange is a completely new concept in the sustainable fashion space and we’re just a little bit excited about working with them. It also means I can finally get rid of some of those unworn items of clothing in my website and swap them for something else I really want.
So what is it?
The DressChange is an online womenswear exchange marketplace allowing women to swap clothing, shoes and accessories. Most women have items in their wardrobes that they never wear. This could be down to the fact that an item doesn’t suit them, doesn’t fit, or simply because they just didn’t get a chance to return to the store. The Dress Change makes it possible for women to exchange these items (clothes, shoes, accessories) for items they actually want.
The DressChange is a membership-based platform; with a free version offering one exchange per month and a paid version offering five exchanges for £9 per month. There is a rating system (similar to Uber) out of five stars. Given there can be no returns, the platform relies on its users to rate each other in their swapping experience. Any users who maintain a rating of 4.75 and over for three months will be invited to a free themed event.
“The idea for The DressChange came about in late 2017. I hosted a weekly girl’s night at my house where we would usually cook/order take out, have a few cocktails and catch up on everyone’s world, talking well into the night. On one particular girl’s night, we decided to go out for drinks to a new bar in the area. All of a sudden, and before we were due to leave, no one liked what they were wearing. They all started rifling through my wardrobe for items to wear and swapping pieces between each other until everyone was happy and suitably dressed for our impromptu night. I watched this all taking place and the idea for The DressChange was born.
There are so many women out there who can’t always afford to go out shopping or do big hauls online, so I wanted to create a place where they could get new clothes but at a much cheaper price. People can basically get a whole new outfit for under £10 a month on the site.
Our intention is to offer all women in the UK the chance to get nearly new clothes without the hefty price tag and help create another sustainable, waste free way of shopping in the fashion space. Our key audience tend to be the money savvy, low income, eco-friendly, social media types, and second hand shoppers. We also have a number of customers who love vintage items too.”
We look forward to working with Montana to bring this new concept to life and make sure as many people as possible hear about this innovative and sustainable way of finding cheaper fashion in the UK.
